I have been doing more and more research on SPD ( Sensory Processing Disorder). At first it was just to find out what it was. Now its how to help it. There are so many different types. Diets, books. So SO much. This is a work in progress for me as well as the girls.
Emma i know has SPD. Ry seems to be a bit more mild as does Amy. If any at all. We can not afford an OT. So we are going with advice and techniques we are trying out alone. From what i have read I was doing good when i really thought i was doing bad. hahaha. Emma has a tendency to line things up. And a lot of the time its pillows and blankets and then jumps on them and across from them and over them and all. Well she had been jumping from stools and landing and what not. When she was little she would NOT walk on the jungle areas at the park. only crawl. Its a sensory thing. When at target she freaked one day when we walked from the carpet of the shoes to the tile of the walk way. I MEAN FLIPPED OUT! Being my daughter I just assumed she was weird like her mom. So any way. I have been trying to stop her from jumping. (my mom would have NOT allowed what i allow on a bet) And then i read something under SPD. Regarding the jumping and running in rooms and "gymnasticy moves", " if the enviroment is safe then allow them to do it". It helps them in some way.
As I said this is a work in progress and I will be posting web sites i have found helpful as well as advice and things we are learning from day to day.
